The Narrows

Wow. I finally have something to blog about. It has been quite a boring time sense I got out of school. But this week I got to go down the narrows with 20 other people. It was quite an adventure.
Wednesday:
We left on Wednesday at about 9:30am. I rode down in Bertha (The lewis' big white van that holds 15 people.) It was Me, Nicole, Jason, JT, Brooke, My Aunt LuAnn, and a lady named Mary Jane. It was about the longest ride ever with Mary Jane asking every hour if we wanted a pumpkin cookie and trying to watch a movie on my very small laptop. At about 2 we were twenty minutes away when Mary Jane asked if we were going to stop anywhere for lunch. WE told her that we were just going to eat when we got there but apparently she did not feel that she could eat there. So we had to drive twenty minutes out of our way into Springdale. As we get to where all the restaurants were she just couldn't decide where she wanted to go. She just keep saying isn't there a McDonald's anywhere. After we told her no like five times she finally saw Taco Bell. As Nicole pulled into the parking lot she says, "Do you just want to go in and order? Or (after a long pause and in a sarcastic tone) Do you want me to take this through the drive through? She just does a little giggle and says yeah. Then Nicole says so you want me to take this through the drive through? She give a little laugh again and says yeah I think you cold do it. SO Nicole takes the bus through up to the speaker and asks Mary Jane what she wants. Mary Jane says I just want a taco and a burrito. Ok, well what kind do you want Nicole asks? Oh it doesn't matter. Wow we were all at this point just plain annoyed. We were tired of being in the bus and she was just being annoying. We finally get to where we were going at about 3pm. We spent the rest of the day just playing outside. We played Volleyball, Soccer, and rode horses. Brooke and I went down to the river and went for a little wade through the water. Then we all went tot he park where we spent hours playing basketball, Volleyball, played on the swings, and rode the rip stick. At nine we headed back to the house where we sat for the next three hours deciding if we were going to go on the narrows the next day. There was a chance of rain and that made a lot of us uneasy. At Midnight we finally decided that we were going to go and went to bed. Jason, JT, Brooke, Nicole, and I went out to sleep on the tramp. Brooke and I could not fall asleep and at one thirty we were still up whispering and Nicole was not to happy about that. She keep telling us to shut up and to stop moving all around. We all talked about just pushing her off the side of the tramp because she was on the end and it would have been fairly easy. At two thirty we finally fell asleep. That morning we had to get up at four to leave.
Thursday:
Surprisingly enough I was not even tired. I was full of energy and ready to go. We got up to the beginning of the hike at about 6:30am and set off. The canyon was completely fogged over and it was only 41 Degrees out so it was a bit chilly. I was soaked up to my knees in the first ten minutes of the hike and I was never completely dry again. It took us about 9 and a half hours to get through but it was a lot of fun. Brooke and I had about an hour or so where it was impossible for us not to slip about every five minutes and fall into the water. It all started when Brooke fell down a rock slab that was about ten feet high. Jason had taken us on this trail that took us up the side of the canyon without anyway down besides these cliffs. We got to where the trail had ended and there was a rock slid. Brooke was up in the front behind Jason and decided that she did not want to slid down next. She was trying to get out of the way so that someone else could go first and she just lost her balance and went rolling down the slab face first. Poor girl got all scraped up but it was the funniest thing that happened the whole trip in my opinion. After that I started to follow Brooke and we took turns falling into the water. The rocks were so slippery and I just could not stay standing up. It did not help of course that Brooke was making me laugh so hard that I could not even stand when I was not moving across the slippery rocks. Along the way we found some fun places to jump of some rocks and Brooke and I were the only ones that would jump off. We figured sense we were already soaked that we would have some fun. I had a couple of bad spills myself. One I tripped on a rock and fell with my leg bent behind me and wow did that hurt. Brooke found it quite funny because I was following her and all of a sudden she heard me saying oh shit oh shit help. She turned around and was laughing so hard that she could not even help me up. After we got on our way again her karma caught up with her she was following me and slipped on a rock and did the splits smacking her you know what on a rock. I tried to pull her up by her back pack but I was laughing so hard that I didn't really have any strength left. We continued on our way practically running through the narrows because Rockey thought that it was going to storm. The only problem was was that we had to stop every half hour or so and wait ten minutes for Mary Jane to catch up. She had a hard time and was falling more then Brooke and I combined. Every time we saw her we just had to laugh because she looked like death. I don't think she was enjoying herself quite as much as everyone else was. The last mile of the trip seemed to drag on forever and I was losing my motivation. I finally made it to the top around four and sat there with JT, Jason, and Brooke. We waited for a half hour for our group to start emerging from the entrance and then we rode the shuttle down to the bottom to catch a ride back to the house. We then waited at the bottom for another twenty minutes for the group to come. By this time we were just tired and sore. We went home and ate dinner and then just sat around for awhile before we dicided that we were going to go and visit Heidi. She lives with her Aunt down there in a paridise house and it was so nice to visit with her. We got home around ten and went straight to bed. Now this is only about half the story but I am sick of writing and I bet you are sick of reading so I will just leave it as it is.
Friday:
We woke up at 6 the next morning, We sat around ate breakfast and then headed back home. We were going to go hiking but we were all to sore to even move so we just headed home. We got home about 2 and then our trip was over. I am glad that I got to go and I really enjoyed myself even if it does not sound like it.
(I will post some picture later because i didn't take my camera.)

What a retard I am!

Ok so you are all probably wondering what is all over the floor. So I will tell about the day leading up to my special moment. I spent the day packing some stuff up. The more I worked the more angry I got because every cupboard I opened I found something else of Ashlee's that I had to pack. I just got so annoyed I started trowing all of her stuff in grocery sacks. The next thing I did was to scrub down everything in the apartment because my land lady in coming over in the morning to do inspection.  So after hours of work I decided that I was done and I should have something to eat. So I stood at the stove for fifteen minutes cooking noodles so that I could make myself homemade macaroni and cheese. After making my noodles and melting the cheese on the top I took my bowl over to sit on my bed to eat. I have to stop my story right now to tell everybody about my living situation. I have moved my mattress into the family room because I needed to wash the walls and vacuum. So megan and I are both sleeping on mattresses on the ground in the front room. So as I was sitting on my bed. Somehow I spilled my noodles and cheese all over me. And seemings how I just got them out of the microwave they were really hot. I burnt my finger and my leg and also made a mess all over my bed, floor, and pajamas. Plus I don't have any extra clothes to change into because I moved mine to Kamas. So I had to borrow these really hot pants from Megan and I think that I just look great in them. (I would have taken a picture but it just wasn't working) So as a visual they are black and white small checkers and about six sizes to big. I pretty much look like I am wearing a tablecloth.

Isn't it Ironic

I have just got over my first cold of the whole winter season. Now I know some of you are like oh you poor baby I have had a cold all year with some flu symptoms thrown in but I have to tell you the story behind this stupid cold and then you might have a little more sympathy.
P.S. To enjoy this story you have to know my family and I really well so if you don't you might as well not read.

It all started last Wednesday when my dad called and asked if I wanted to go to Moab. We were going to take the bikes down and do some slick rock biking and some hiking. I decided sense it was freezing cold here and the fact that I have not been to my mom's house in a year that it would be a good weekend to go down. SO Wednesday night I had to do a bunch of homework so that I could tun it all in early so I could leave with my parent Thursday afternoon when I got out of class. After running around Thursday and getting home from school just two minutes before my mom, dad, and my aunt LuAnn came to pick me up I was on my way to warmth. The car ride down was just hysterical. It was probably the funnest part of the trip. LuAnn and I were in back and the radio doesn't pick up at all for like three hours so my mom decided that she is going
to plug in her ipod and listen to her music and I just have to tell you that it was HORRIBLE. Then my mom decided that she was hungry and she was going to eat a pepper but I told her that I would not hand her one because I cannot stand the smell of them and plus they trigger my asthma. She was like fine then I will just have an avocado. So I handed her her avocado and she began to eat. All was quiet until suddenly she get all upset and says damn it. (She had dropped her avocado on the floor) She then looks at my dad and yells, Why couldn't we just stop and eat somewhere. I hate driving whit you, you just drive right throw and never stop to let me do anything." I thought this was hysterical and I started to laugh and this just made her more mad. She turns to me and says,"It's not funny Shantell I just squashed my avocado in the speakers now how and I suppose to get it out". From then on I just knew that this was going to be a trip of a life time. Thursday was beautiful down there and we spent that evening hiking up cable arch. We got home just after dark and then spent the evening watching a movie.

Friday: The next morning we woke up and anyone knowing my mother we didn't get going until 11. We took the bikes up and did a really fun slick rock trail but of course it rain just a little and anyone that has been on slick rock knows that it get really slippery when it is just a little bit wet but we went anyway. And of course my mom was not happy about this so she was angry and pouting. She wanted to bike a nice flat road so that she could get used to her bike (whatever that means). So she put her headphones in and went ahead of the group. Not long after we got going she I noticed my mom up ahead. She had slide just a little on her bike and got so mad. She throw her bike into a tree and stomped off to hike. An hour later she showed up on her bike to join us. Then she goes into this speech about how she is not going to come home this summer just so my dad and I can control her and make her do things that she doesn't want to do. Wow what a day and it was only 2. So we decided that we were finished biking and we were going to head back down and go for a hike. We ended up hiking this canyon that my mom called boulder canyon. It was a long hike and my mom just kept saying I want to see what is around the next bend. Eight bends later the canyon finally boxed off. I was so relieved. Then my mom turns to me and says, "Aren't you glad that we didn't turn around?' I answered, "Not really. I don't care that we made it to the end. I would have been just as happy if I thought it was a never ending canyon." After sitting at the end of this canyon for about a half hour we started heading back. And as we were about a fourth the way back it starts the rain. I was hiking in scrubs and a tiny little jacket and it was FREEZING. We had to hike for an hour in the rain without it letting up and the next morning I woke up with a COLD. I was so mad plus the fact that the ground was covered with snow! In MOAB

Saturday we ended up driving around waiting for the snow/rain to stop so that we could go hiking. I was just so excited as I was sitting in the back of the car with my nose running, a cough, and the fact that I was freezing even though I was wearing four layers of clothes. Her are some pictures of the storm.

This is a jug handle Arch. Just one of the many arches we saw as we were driving around.

After the storm let up we hiked up to Corona Arch and then over to Pinto Arch. Then we went exploring. we went up this four-wheeler road in my moms lexis and I have to say it was my favorite part of the day. This picture is on the rock that we went under.
Sunday we just went and did a short canyoneering canyon and then headed home.
This was my favorite day because the canyon was so much fun. I wish I wold have gotten picture but I forgot my phone.

I know that that was a long story just to tell you that I got my first cold when I was in southern Utah. But it was a great story. (At least I think it was). What a bummer.

My Spring Break

Warning: This is going to be long and may not make that much sense.

OH what a week it has been. I had the best spring break(Even though I work four out of the five days)

I decided that I would start my spring break early sense I have to work all day Thursday, Friday and Saturday. So I skipped school on Tuesday and went home after school on Monday afternoon. It was not a great warm day but still it was pretty decent. I went to the movies with my parents and we went and saw He is just not that into you. I would just have to say that it was the stupidest show that I have seen in a long time. It might have just been the fact that I went with my parents but I wanted to leave about a half an hour into the movie but my mom said that she wanted to see if it was going to get good. After wanting to stay I had to hear her say how dumb it was all the way home.
Tuesday I got to sleep in and boy did it feel good. And that is pretty much all I remember about this day so besides that I went babysitting that night. It must not have been a very productive day:)
Wednesday was the only complete day that I got off with no work or anything to do. I decided to spend this day cleaning. I was in the cleaning mood. I went out and cleaned the garage because it was actually warm outside. Then I cleaned some of my house and I made dinner and lunch. For those that know me that is not something that I do everyday because I am a horrible cook but lunch and dinner actually turned out ok and I didn't even kill anyone. that night I had to decide if I was going to drive back down to Provo so that I babysit for my cousin in the morning or if I was going to get up and 6am to drive down.
Thursday I spent the whole day babysitting for my cousin down in Lehi and I had to get up at 6am because I stayed up in Kamas to watch a movie with my mom. I was in Lehi babysitting Kayden who is 2 and a half and Kamryn who is almost one. It was a long day and their mom didn't come home until 5:30pm. When I finally got home I was all by myself because my mom and dad decided that they were going to take a trip to lake Powell in my dad's sports mobile.
Friday my babysitting job cancelled and I was totally bummed because I lost out on $150. That would have been half of my rent. Anyway I ended up running a day care out of my house instead. After I ran around helping Luke ride his bike around the loop my friends Emily and heather came into town with their kids for a surprise party. They had asked me to babysit for them while they went shopping for food and stuff. So at about 2 Emily dropped of her 3year old and 1 1/2 year old, Heather dropped of her 2 1/2 year old and their brother dropped off his 2 1/2 year old so that they could all go shopping. PLUS I already had Luke up at my house because he wanted to help me "babysit" I was shaping up to be a very busy day. But then at around 3pm the little girl I babysit sometime wanted to come over with her friend and help me "babysit" also. They are both about 9years old and they actually ended up being a little helpful. Then to add to my daycare Susan called to say that she was going to dinner for her sons birthday (Susan is Luke's, Chynna's, and Sophie's mom) and that she wanted to know if Sophie (who is 7 years) could come up. So if you are not keeping track that is now 8 kids. These eight kids were at my house until about 8 and then they all went there separate ways. That night I slept so good I could not believe how tired I was.
Saturday started at a quarter to 9 when Emily called to say that she was going to have all the kids over to the Oakley tin building and that it would be great if I could come over and supervise. (for those that are having a hard time following along. The kids I am referring to are Savannah (3yrs), Rachel (1 1/2), Tristan (2 1/2) and Sylvia (2 1/2). ) I will spare you the details of this day but it didn't end until about 10pm!

Well that is the end of my Spring Break and now I am just back at school counting down the days until Summer.

P.S. Sorry Gen if this sounds horrible with run on sentences. I have a very annoying roommate singing in my ear and I think I might hit her so I have to leave the room and I don't have time to read this over and fix it.

My partial "Laminated List"

Ok so I have been trying to put this stupid list on her for like days and for some reason it has just not been working. It is probably because I am a complete idiot when it comes to the computer. Anyway here is what I came up with. (P.S. I made up some of my own categories and broke some of the rules but I don't care.) This post is just for Nicole:)

Matthew McConaughey

DOB: November 4, 1969

He was my first love towards an actor. Plus my sister dated a guy that looked just like him and I still regret the day that she broke it off with him. This picture was the only good one that I could find because in order for him to be truly hot he has the have blond hair and have his glasses on.

Vin Diesel

DOB: July 18, 1967

Musician:

Oliver James

DOB: June 1, 1980

Nicole picked this one out for me and it is a good thing because he is the one of the only ones that is even close to my own age.

Ryan Reynolds

DOB: October 23, 1976

This one is on her just for Gen and I would have to say that I agree with her:)

Speaking Voice:

David Lyons

DOB: June 15 1980

He is one of my personal favorites. I would kill for a husband with his accent. I just love it.

Old Man

Richard Gere

DOB: August 31, 1949

I was going to put George Clooney as my old man but he is older so he won. Don't worry George Clooney will be on the list.

Singer:

Heath Ledger

DOB: April 4, 1969

Now I know that he is dead and that breaks the rule but he was the only singer that I could think of that I likes. I just love when he sings in 10 things I hate about you.

It's all about the smile:

Goran Visnjic

DOB: September 9, 1972

This is one of my made up categories because he just had to make the list and I could not think about where to put him. Plus he has a great accent too.

The man should be at the top of my list but I am a computer retard so here he is in the middle

Number 1:

George Clooney

DOB: May 6, 1961

Scruffy:

John Stamos

DOB: August 19. 1963

Fictional:

Brian Krause

DOB: February 1, 1969

He is the only fictional character that I like. I don't know if he is really even a fictional character but he plays a white lighter on charmed so he counts in my book.

Number 2:

Chad Michael Murry

DOB: August 24, 1981

Action Hero:

Brad Pitt

DOB: December 18, 1963

Now I know that this is stretching it a little but I could not think of an action hero and the only though that keep coming to my mind was the movie Mr. and Mrs. Smith so that is how he made the list.

Athlete:

Matt Czuchry

DOB: May 20, 1977

Apparently he was a great tennis player when he was in college. He was caption of the tennis team:)

It's all about the smile:

Dermot Mulroney

DOB: October 31, 1963

So as you can see as you go through my list every single guy is way older than me so apparently I have a thing for older men. OR maybe it is just that my generation is just ugly and untalented. I hate to admit that but I think that it just might be true.

My Hair Cut

Ok. So I have been wanting to get my hair cut for like a months because it has become uncontrolable and I end up putting it up in a pony tail day after day and I swear I have become known as the frump girl at school. SO I finally called my trusty hair cutter lady and told her that I really needed my hair cut and I was going to be coming up for a long weekend. Luckly she was able to fit me in today because she is going to have sugery next week but that his a whole different story anyway. So I have been racking my brain and searching the internet for the last two days to find my dream haircut and of course everyone had an opinion of how I should cut it but my only problem was was that they were all giving me different opinions. So last nigh my day finnally go on the internet for me and found a hair cut that I actually really liked but as I was sleeping last night I keep having this dream about what cut I should get because I could not pick between the two that I had found. So I left this morning to get my hair cut will absoulutly no idea how I was going to get it cut. I sat down to wait and was flipping through some magazines and found the perfect cut. Know I think that the cut looks way better on the model (Like it always does) but I am not horrified with how it looks on me I just cannot make up my mind of whether I like it or not but I guess that is something that I cannot change so here it is.
My dad decided to take this picture while I was talking on the phone not wanting to wait until after I was done.

Oh what a day...

So as I am sitting here today I was thinking to myself how I could kill my roommate and get away with it. All she has done in the past two days is go to school and then came home and watch Gilmore girls. Which one day she did not go to school. So as I am sitting there for brief periods of time all she does is drive me crazy. Why is she wearing that? Why is he/she mad/sad? Why are they not talking? (Then she asks me why I am leaving when I pick up my things and go into my room.)It is like she cannot listen to the show or reason what is going to happen next. When I finally tell her that she is driving me crazy her only response is, "why do you alway pretend to be mad." "I think it is just an act, when really you are not feeling that way inside." So tonight I finally told her that I feel like dumping my root beer float all over her head and her only response to that was tell me that I would then have to go and buy more root beer. So as I am writing on my blog and hiding in my room so that I don't go and get my root beer out of the fridge and dumb it on her head I am thinking to myself how I am going to make it through the rest of the week because I only go to school until 2 and that leaves me with a lot of time at home with her. So if you have any suggestions I would be more then glad to hear them.
